The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has successfully empowered Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in Kano by providing essential soft skills, with the aim of enhancing their employability.
The training, held at CITAD’s Kano office on Wednesday, attracted PWDs committed to acquiring new skills for self-independence and aspiring to become employers of labor.
CITAD’s Executive Director, Engr. Y.Z Ya’u, emphasized that the initiative’s goal is to bridge the employment gap for PWDs in Kano state, equipping them with crucial skills for workplace success.
Represented by Buhari Abba, he mentioned that the training includes vital soft skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
Mr. Abba highlighted the importance of these skills in enabling PWDs to compete effectively in the job market.
“This program is crucial as it will prepare our youth when evaluating organizations or institutions, helping them identify recruiters’ requirements in relation to skills and attributes, anticipate likely interview questions, and learn effective approaches to answering different types of interview questions,” Mr. Abba said.
Malam Hamza Aminu Fagge, the Coordinator for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) at CITAD, praised the Centre’s dedication to empowering PWDs, noting that this endeavor has the potential to greatly improve their lives.
“By providing them with the necessary skills and resources, CITAD is helping PWDs achieve their full potential and contribute meaningfully to society.”
During the workshop, Malam Ahmadu Adamu, Business Manager at Kano ICS office, discussed essential skills for kickstarting a career and succeeding in job interviews.
