CITAD unveils 2nd Phase of Digital marketing workshop for Kannywood filmmakers in Kano

The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has taken a significant step forward in supporting the Kannywood film industry by launching the second phase of its Digital Marketing workshop.

The initiative, which aims to empower filmmakers with the essential skills to harness the potential of technology in promoting and distributing their films digitally, commenced on the 4th of July 2023.

Hosted at the Prof. Bjorn Bekman Hall in CITAD’s Kano office, the three-day training session accommodates 15 participants eager to enhance their digital marketing proficiency.

Engr. Y.Z Ya’u, the Executive Director of CITAD, expressed his dedication to advancing the film industry in Kano state during the flag-off ceremony. He emphasized the critical need for filmmakers to understand the intricacies of marketing, sales, and promotional channels to improve profitability and create more employment opportunities for aspiring talents.

“Kannywood has a wealth of creative minds, but we must also equip them with the knowledge of marketing and technology to boost their films’ visibility in the digital landscape,” stated Ya’u.

He underlined CITAD’s commitment to supporting the film industry in generating wealth and tackling social challenges, such as unemployment and street crime.

Malam Ado Ahmad Gidan Dabino, Chairman of the Motion Picture Practitioners’ Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN), Kano State Branch, lauded the success of the first phase of the Digital Marketing training.

Speaking at the event, Dabino commended the exchange of knowledge between the facilitators and participants, acknowledging the expertise shared by both parties.

“During the first phase, we witnessed a remarkable transfer of knowledge from industry experts to us, the practitioners,” Dabino disclosed.

He pledged to encourage all workshop participants representing various departments to disseminate their newfound knowledge to other members within the industry, ensuring a broad impact on Kannywood’s growth.

The organization’s commitment to fostering a vibrant and successful film community in Kano state was evident during the workshop’s inaugural phase, which was reported by PRIME TIME NEWS on June 7, 2023.
