Civil Society Coalition Gives NNPC GCEO, Bayo Ojulari, 72 Hours to Step Back and Face Investigation

The Coalition of Civil Society Networks has issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the embattled Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.), Mr. Bayo Ojulari, to step back from office and face investigation over mounting allegations of corruption, abuse of office, and sabotage of Nigeria’s oil sector.

The coalition cited reports linking Mr. Ojulari to:
• The ₦34.65 billion ($21 million) fraud scandal involving his associates.
• The ₦5.7 billion consultancy contract fraud, awarded without transparency.
• The abrupt shutdown of Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna refineries in a manner described as deliberate sabotage.
• Ongoing EFCC investigations into money laundering and illicit enrichment tied to cronies.

According to the statement signed by Abdulhameed Musa Abdullahi, the coalition warned that failure by Mr. Ojulari to comply within 72 hours will trigger:
• Nationwide protests at NNPC facilities,
• Petitions to international anti-corruption agencies, and
• Civil society occupation of NNPC offices until justice is served.

The coalition further called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Heineken Lokpobiri, to stand firm in cleansing NNPC of corruption and restoring public trust.

“Nigeria must never return to the era of impunity in the oil and gas sector. The Nigerian people will not fold their arms while a few individuals plunder our commonwealth,” the coalition declared.
