Close-out Meeting: CIPP Chief Commends Members’ Peace Building Efforts

The Chief of Party, Community Initiative to Promote Peace(CIPP),Sani Suleiman,has commended members of the CIPP and Conflict Mitigation and Management Regional Council(CMMRC) structure for their good efforts at conflict prevention and peace building in their respective communities.

Suleiman made the commendation in a remark at the Close-out meeting of the CIPP,a USAID-funded project, held at the Arewa House,Kaduna,on Thursday.

He said the operators had done well in their respective areas in the prevention of conflicts and promotion of peace through the Early Warning and Early Response(EWER) mechanism since the commencement of the project in 2019.

He,however,urged them to thrive harder in the task of preventing conflicts and promoting peace in the society,adding that the CIPP and CMMRC structure is about making their communities better in peace and harmony.

The Chief of Party then urged the members to take ownership of the structure and continue to work for peace and harmony in their respective communities,even after the project winds up in February,2024.

Declaring the meeting open, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State commended the Interface Mediation Centre(IMC),one of the implimenting partners of the project,for its efforts at the promotion of peace in the state.

Governor Sani,who was represented by the Administrator of the Kaduna Capital Territory, Samuel Aruwan,said the centre’s intiative aligned smoothly with the vision of his administration of peace building and improving security mechanisms across the state.

Aruwan, who himself was represented by Mr Michael Madobi, said”unity is paramount, peace is priceless and collaboration is indispensable.”

The meeting which had the theme:”Strengthening Linkage of Established EWER Structures”,drew participants from Kano,Kaduna,Katsina,Kogi,Plateau and Benue States.

The event also featured goodwill messages from stakeholders such as the Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN),Jama’atu Nasil Islam(JNI) and traditional rulers.

It also witnessed presentation of key achievements and success stories from the CIPP states, as well as an overview of CIPP EWER Structures Linkage and Handbook.
