COAS Reaffirms Armed Forces’ Commitment to National Security

From Sani Gazas Chinade, Damaturu

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General OO Oluyede, has restated the dedication of the Nigerian Armed Forces to defending the nation and its people.

Represented by Major General MS Ahmed, he made this commitment during the commissioning of a modern educational facility in Chinade, Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The facility, constructed by Major General Aminu Shehu Chinade, is designed to provide educational opportunities for both children and adults in the community.

Speaking at the event, the Chief of Army Staff emphasized the military’s constitutional responsibility to protect lives and property, assuring that they would remain unwavering in their duty.

He called on citizens to support the Armed Forces in their efforts, noting that such collaboration is vital for achieving national security goals.

He also commended Major General Chinade for his dedication to community development, acknowledging the role of military administration in fostering projects that benefit the public.

Major General Aminu Shehu Chinade, reflecting on his motivation for building the facility, said it was inspired by his own experience of receiving free education up to secondary school.

The facility, which includes classrooms, dormitories, and other amenities, is part of his broader commitment to giving back to his community.

He noted that his foundation, established three years ago, has so far provided scholarships to over 200 students.

Expressing gratitude, he acknowledged the support of the Chief of Army Staff, the Bauchi State Government, the Emir of Katagum, and the Katagum Local Government Council, as well as the prayers and cooperation of the people of Chinade, which were instrumental in completing the project.

The Emir of Katagum, Dr. Alhaji Umar Faruq Muhammad II, represented by the Ubandoma of Katagum Emirate, praised Major General Chinade’s dedication and called on other communities to emulate his efforts, particularly in areas such as education and youth empowerment.

Similarly, Alhaji Sa’ad Bawa Chinade, a former Permanent Secretary in Bauchi State, expressed the community’s deep appreciation for the General’s contributions, particularly the scholarships that have benefited many students.

Hon. Nasiru Ala, the Member representing Chinade and Madara Constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly, described Major General Chinade as a hero for his people.

He pledged continued support from the Bauchi State Government to ensure the smooth operation of the school, including the provision of security personnel.

Ambassador Jibrin Dada Chinade, who hosted the event, commended the General’s achievements and urged young people to follow his example by initiating similar development projects in their communities.
