From Abubakar Rabilu, Gombe
The President of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Engr. Sadiq Zubair Abubakar, has lauded Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State for redefining urban renewal and infrastructure development in the North-East, describing Gombe as a model of visionary leadership and good governance.
Engr. Abubakar gave the commendation when he led a COREN delegation on a courtesy visit to the Governor at the Government House, Gombe, following their participation in the North-East Regional Engineering Stakeholders’ Summit held at the International Conference Centre.
He said COREN’s decision to establish a regional office in Gombe was informed by the state’s growing reputation as an emerging hub for engineering excellence and sustainable urban development.
“We have seen first-hand the transformation happening in Gombe. The Shehu Abubakar District stands out as a model of modern urban planning and sustainability. This is governance in action,” the COREN President said.
He noted that the team inspected several projects, including the new High Court Complex, gully erosion control sites, and the Gombe water supply expansion scheme, which he described as evidence of the Governor’s commitment to purposeful development and engineering standards.
“Gombe demonstrates professionalism, political will, and engineering excellence. COREN will continue to support the state’s vision of building a more sustainable and economically vibrant environment,” he added.
Responding, Governor Inuwa Yahaya thanked COREN for recognizing his administration’s transformation agenda, reaffirming his commitment to make Gombe the commercial hub of the North-East through peace, stability, and infrastructural growth.
He assured that his government would continue to partner with COREN to ensure that all engineering projects in the state meet global standards of quality and transparency.
Earlier, the Deputy Governor, Dr. Manassah Daniel Jatau, declared open the North-East Regional Engineering Stakeholders’ Summit and inaugurated the Regional Steering Committee of the Council.
