CSOs, media should collaborate to address governance, social challenges – Gidan Yanci
Gidan Yanci has called on Civil Society Organizations and the media to collaborate in addressing social and governance challenges.
Gidan Yanci made the call at a one day round table discussion held at Bayero University, Kano on Wednesday.
The event, according to the program lead, Zulaihat Danjuma aimed at fostering the relationship between the CSOs and the Media.
“The dialogue meeting serves as a platform for Civil Society Organizations and the media to come together, discuss common issues, and find solutions that enable them to take responsibility.
“It also helps bridge the gap between them, fostering better relationships to hold government officials accountable and ensure leaders fulfill their obligations to the electorate,” she said.
She stressed the necessity for collaborative efforts in tackling societal issues.
Corroborating, Sadiq Mustapha, another program lead of Gidan Yanci said there is a need for the media to provide platforms for CSOs to amplify their voices and initiatives.
“CSOs can effectively advocate for governance issues by highlighting critical challenges and promoting solutions for government consideration.”
According to him, there is a necessity to cultivate a society rooted in peace and sustainable development.
He urged leaders to engage at the grassroots level to understand the social issues affecting the masses and aimed for a society free from such problems.
