CSOs Urges Plateau Security Agencies to Step Up Efforts Against Violence

Civil Society organization (CSOs) Forum in Plateau State have called on the security agencies in the state to be more proactive in tackling security issues in the state.

The chairman of the CSOs, Chris  Damcher,  stated this while addressing Journalists at the NUJ state secretariat Jos, on Friday.

Chris described the Unfortunate incident that happened to the people of the state  as another spate of unprovoked case.

He said the unprecedented attack on innocent community dwellers in Bokkos, Mangu and Barkin-Ladi  Local Government Areas left hundreds dead, several injured with properties also destroyed.

The organization pointed out that They are fully convinced that information usually gets to the security agencies and relevant authorities but that each time such planned attacks by same so called  MILITIA are circulated, their plans are usually executed to a high percentage unabated without any security intervention.

Lamenting that there is hardly or never a proactive measure(s) by the security operatives to counter the early warnings circulated nor intercept the attackers in the act.

The organization however appealed to the state government and legislators at the state and national level to revisit the establishment of the North Central Development Commission that would facilitate the rehabilitation, reconstruction and resettlement of IDPs to their ancestral lands.

In related development, The transition committee chairmen across the seventeen local government areas of plateau state has  also condemned in strong terms the recent coordinated attacks on innocent citizens in some part of the State.

The Transition Committee chairman wase Local Government Area and plateau state ALGON Chairman Hamisu Amani said  ALGON expressed sympathy for the affected families and communities and urged citizens to stand strong, assuring them that the government is actively working to address the situation while calling for calm in the affected areas.
