D/Kudu’s District Head Urges Support For Islamic Schools, Lauds Sayyida Saratu Nasir Kabara’s Decades of Service

The District Head of Dawakin-Kudu, Alhaji Yusuf Kabir Yusuf (Danmakwayon Kano), has called on Muslims to intensify support for Islamic schools, especially those located in rural communities.

He made the call during a special Maulud celebration, Walima for 40 graduating women, and the flag-off ceremony of an Islamiyya school building held in Dawakin-Kudu Local Government Area, Kano State.

This was contained in a statement that was signed and issued to newsmen today by Bahijja Malam Kabara on behalf the Ministry of Information, Kano State.

According to Bahijja, Danmakwayo described women’s education as central to building a successful and morally upright society, noting that women, as mothers, shape future generations.

He commended Sayyida Saratu Shaikh Nasir Kabara for her more than 30 years of dedicated service in establishing and sustaining Islamic education in the community. He pledged to serve as the caregiver of the new Islamiyya school.

In a goodwill message, the Honourable Commissioner for Housing and Development, Arc. Ibrahim Yakubu Adamu (MNIA), represented by Hon. Tafida Wudil, reaffirmed the readiness of the present administration to support both Islamic and Western education.

He stated that the government of Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf will continue to prioritize education for the progress and well-being of the people of Kano State.

Arc. Ibrahim Yakubu Adamu also pledged to construct a block of classrooms for the Islamiyya school and donated 100 Qur’ans and school bags to support learning activities.

Renowned scholars, including Shaikh Dr. Askia Shaikh Nasir Kabara, Shaikh Bazallah Kabara, and Shaikh Ya’azza Kabara, delivered insightful sermons on the importance of establishing Islamic schools for women and children, emphasizing their impact on moral upbringing and community development.

Also speaking, Malam Sa’id Gidan Nagunda appealed to residents of Dawakin-Kudu to work together to ensure the full completion of the school, stressing that the project is for their collective benefit.

He described Sayyida Saratu as a true hero of the community, acknowledging her over 20 years of meritorious service as a Hisbah Commander and as a moral guide.

In her remarks, the Deputy Commander General of Kano Hisbah, Dr. Khadija Sagir, praised Sayyida Saratu’s remarkable contributions to the advancement of Islamic education. She urged students to emulate the teachings and character of the Holy Prophet (SAW).

Speaking on the history of the school, Sayyida Saratu Shaikh Nasir Kabara, founder of Daryl-Huda Islamiyya, explained that the institution began over 30 years ago at her home with only four students. Today, the school has produced countless graduates and expanded to over 17 branches across Kano State.

She noted that the school was established under the guidance of her late father, Shaikh Dr. Muhammad Nasir Kabara, and with the support of her husband, Alhaji Isma’il Hamza. She expressed gratitude to Arc. Hauwa Hassan Tudun-Wada, represented by Hajiya Fauziyya Sani Yahya, and all dignitaries who honored the event.

During the flag-off ceremony, nearly N1 million was raised in support of the new Islamic school building.
