Dabang tasks New Services Chiefs to build hopes of Nigerians and not disappointment

From Tongnaan Bawa, Jos

The Special Adviser on Political Affairs to Plateau State Governor Latep Dabang has challenged the New Services Chiefs not to disappoint Nigerians who are seriously putting hope in them to end the insecurity challenges in the country and particularly Plateau State.

Dabang made the call in an interview with Prime Time News in Jos on his assessments of the capacity of the New Service Chiefs.

He added that he doesn’t know any of the officers personally, but has a strong belief that they have the capacity according to their professional calling to end the incessant security challenges, saying Nigerians are so much happy by their appointment and there is a serious need for them to put in professionalism and bring strategy to end security challenges by given Nigerians Hope.

“I know that this country has been going through a lot in terms of insecurity and that Mr President has been properly informed, before deciding on bringing the New Services Chiefs and we pray that the decision will yield good results. I pray that it will create a scenario for the right hands who are the most capable hands to handle the security architecture of this country. We have gone through the hands of criminals in this country. And it is getting to a point where it would appear as if there is no government at all. People just wake up and do just what they want to do. In some parts of this country, you can walk freely.

While Speaking on the incessant attacks in Plateau State, Dabang said it is sad that lives are being lost daily without provocation.

“We thought this insecurity has ended, but we have noticed that it’s on the increase, lives are being lost Daily.

He called for the people of the State to unite irrespective of tribes, religion and interests to find a lasting solution to the several killings in the State.

“People should try as much as possible not to politicize this kind of situation. A lot of people are dying, and the people that are dying are not from any particular political party. Insecurity is insecurity and when you see people dying it has no political colour, it has no religious colour, in some cases, you may see some element of religious inclination towards the bad blood that is being generated. Mine is to continue to appeal to the people of plotters that this insecurity will not give us any gain at all.

According to him, no community has any benefit from it, except that it creates opportunities and avenues for banks and criminals to operate.

He however called on Governor Caleb Mutfwang to revive the State Security outfit, “Operation Rainbow” to help curb the insecurity challenges in the Villages.

“I will adequately advise Governor Caleb Mutfwang to ensure that the operational rainbow takes off properly and is given the necessary tools to ensure that they assist the police because if you add operation rainbow, Nigerian Civil Defense and then you bring in the police, you bring in the army, you bring in the vigilantes that are operating and virtually every corner you bring in the Hunters Association we are supposed to have enough security eyes. If all these agencies and organizations that I’ve mentioned take their job seriously, then we will succeed.

Prime time News reports that Letep Dabang is a PDP stalwart and the immediate past Atiku/ Mutfwang campaign organization in Plateau state.
