Dandume Secretariat Fire: Committee Inaugurated to Investigate Incident

Alhaji Basiru Musa, the Honourable Chairman of Dandume Local Government Council, inaugurated a committee to investigate the recent fire outbreak at the local government secretariat.

The incident, which occurred on December 22, 2023, marked the second such occurrence at the secretariat.

In his speech during the inauguration, Alhaji Musa expressed deep concern over the unfortunate incident, stressing the need for a thorough inquiry to uncover the root cause and recommend immediate actions.

The committee, reconstituted due to the previous leadership’s inability to fulfill its duties, comprises individuals known for their integrity, experience, and exposure.

The terms of reference outlined by the chairman for the committee include:
1. Investigating the immediate and underlying causes of the fire incident.
2. Determining culpability, if any, of individuals or groups involved.
3. Assessing the extent of damage and losses incurred.
4. Evaluating the response of responsible entities like the fire service and security agencies.
5. Recommending measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
6. Possessing the authority to summon individuals or groups for testimonies or documentation.

Chaired by Honourable Alhaji Adamu S. Ladan and with members drawn from various sectors including security agencies, media, emergency services, and government representatives, the committee aims to submit its report within a week.

In response, Alhaji Adamu S. Ladan, the appointed chairman, expressed gratitude for the opportunity and affirmed the committee’s commitment to fulfilling its responsibilities within the stipulated timeframe, ensuring a comprehensive investigation into the incident
