Dangote honors late Herbert Wigwe with refinery road name

Nigerian billionaire and Dangote Group founder, Aliko Dangote, on Monday honored the late businessman Herbert Wigwe by naming the road leading to his oil refinery after him.

Wigwe, who served as the group chief executive officer of Access Holdings Plc, was remembered fondly by Dangote during a tribute by professionals.

“To immortalise my beloved friend, my brother, and my mentee, I have actually decided to name a major refinery and petrochemical road, out of the 120 kilometers, the biggest road will now be named ‘Herbert Wigwe,” he said.

Recall that Wigwe, alongside his wife, son, and Abimbola Ogunbanjo, the former group chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group), were involved in a helicopter crash in the United States on February 10, 2024.
