Death Threat: NBA lauds Kano Governor for sacking aides, urges security probe
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) commends Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State for swiftly dismissing two of his aides following a death threat against judges of the governorship tribunal and derogatory comments about the Vice President.
The incident involved Commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning, Adamu Aliyu Kibiya, who issued a threat to tribunal judges during a special prayer session.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth and Sport, Yusuf Imam, also made derogatory remarks about the Vice President during the same event.
NBA Kano branch Chairman, Barr. Suleiman Gezawa, called on Governor Yusuf to sanction the commissioner to disassociate the state government from the statement.
The state commissioner for information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, on Friday evening announced that Governor Yusuf promptly acted, sacking the commissioner and the Special Adviser, directing all heads of MDAs to restrict comments and interviews to their respective offices.
Chairman Gezawa praised the governor for distancing his administration from the statements and urged security agencies to investigate the commissioner’s death threat for any potential ulterior motives.
