From Sani Gazas Chinade, Damaturu
Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has described the people of the state as true pillars of democracy for their continued support of government policies and programmes.
In a statement signed by Mamman Mohammad, Director General, Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, Buni made the remarks in commemoration of Nigeria’s Democracy Day.
The Governor said the unwavering support of the people has significantly strengthened democratic governance in the state.
“Twenty-six years of uninterrupted democracy in Nigeria has given citizens a sense of participation and ownership of government,” he stated.
Governor Buni highlighted that the inclusion of youths in governance as commissioners, heads of agencies, special advisers, assistants, and focal persons has contributed meaningfully to effective leadership and development in the state.
“It is gratifying that democracy has provided an opportunity for people to have their voices heard and to participate actively in governance. In Yobe State, our open-door policy ensures that citizens are fully engaged in shaping government decisions, fostering a true sense of belonging,” he added.
The Governor expressed optimism about the future of the state and the nation, especially with the growing participation of young people in politics and public service.
He assured the public that his administration remains committed to delivering the dividends of democracy.
According to him, all ongoing projects will be completed to ensure value for public funds and to maximize the benefits to the people.
Governor Buni called for continued support and cooperation to deepen democracy and promote good governance.
He also encouraged citizens to take advantage of the rainy season to embrace agriculture, support security agencies, and uphold the values of peaceful coexistence across the state.
