Devcoms Collaborates with Media to Promote Reproductive Health in Jigawa

The Development Communications Network (Devcoms), a non-governmental organization, has partnered with The Change Initiatives (TCI) to engage media for family and reproductive health promotion in Jigawa State.
In their strategic approach, the Devcoms team, led by consultant Sekyen Dadik, conducted advocacy visits to key media houses in the state to build mutual rapport and facilitate the activities.
During the advocacy visit, Sekyen Dadik emphasized the crucial role of the media in reducing maternal mortality through sensitization and public enlightenment campaigns on the importance of child spacing.
She urged Managing Directors, editors, and other media gatekeepers to collaborate with Devcoms to achieve the goals of improving the lives of women and children in Jigawa.
In response, Alhaji Aliyu Falaki, the General Manager of Freedom Radio Dutse, assured maximum support for the project’s success in enhancing reproductive health.
Similarly, General Manager of Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) Bashir Usman Chedi, Managing Directors of Radio Jigawa Alhaji Yusuf Adamu, and Jigawa Television Alhaji Abba Tukur pledged their commitment to the program’s success.
Policy makers, including Dr. Kabir Ibrahim, the Permanent Secretary of Jigawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency, commended Devcoms for their efforts and urged media partners to maintain unbiased reporting for balanced coverage of health-related issues in the state.
