Education: Sa’adatu Rimi Varsity Lauds Gov Yusuf Administration’s Support

Vice Chancellor of the Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education, Kumbotso, Kano State, Prof. Yahaya Isa Bunkure, has commended the Governor Abba Yusuf administration for creating an enabling environment for the institution to operate “with ease.”
Prof. Bunkure made the commendation while addressing newsmen in his office, describing the gesture as a welcome development.
“I want to appreciate the present administration of our duly elected Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, for creating the enabling environment for us to run the institution with ease, because we don’t have much challenges in the university, actually,” he said.
He said the administration deserved commendation in view of the measures it had deployed to improve education in the state, generally.
Such policies, the Vice Chancellor said, include the reduction by fifty percent of registration fees paid by all the state students studying in the state government-owned institutions of higher learning, including the Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education.
This, according to him, had attracted more number of students who gained admission into the University.
Prof. Bunkure also lauded the administration for appropriating 29.7 percent of the state’s budget for 2024 for the education sector, which according to him, had never been done in any state in the federation.
He also commended the governor for approving the sum of N4.6 billion in the budget for the general infrastructural upgrade of the university, including the construction of a befitting Senate Chamber for the institution.
“So, I am actually happy and proud to be associated with the Governor because of his passion for education and his passion for the welfare of the people of Kano State. And the greatest welfare is when the entire citizens are educated,” he said.
Formally known as Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, Kumbotso, the institution was in 2023 upgraded to Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education, Kumbotso,by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
The institution is named after Hajiya Sa’adatu Rimi, the late wife of the late former Governor of the state, Alhaji Muhammadu Abubakar Rimi.
