EFCC Nabs 24 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Kano
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 24 suspected internet fraudsters in Kano during a sting operation conducted on Monday, July 21, 2025.
Operatives of the EFCC’s Kano Zonal Directorate carried out the operation opposite Bayero University Kano (BUK) New Site, acting on credible intelligence about the suspects’ alleged involvement in cybercrime. All those arrested are confirmed to be undergraduate students of BUK.
Items recovered from the suspects include mobile phones, laptops, internet routers, and a Honda Accord vehicle.
The suspects were identified as Ismaíl Nura, Suuleyman Ayeh, Usman Abdulrazaq, Emmanuel Chigozie, Akabe Seth, Daniel Imoter, Abdulganiyu Jimoh, Jafar Abubakar, Usman Nuraddeen, Mohammad Adnan, Abubakar Abusufyan, Abdulmalik Ibrahim, Abubakar Sadiq, Daniel Masamu, Abdulrasheed Abdulsamad, Issac Dosunu, Nuraddeen Ogunbiyi, Onyeyemi Kaleem, Miracle Joseph, Danjuma Musa, Ibrahim Mubaraq, Yusuf Salihu, Lawal Ibrahim Edebo, Abdulmajeed Suleiman, and Dauda Abdulhamid.
The EFCC said the arrests followed weeks of surveillance that linked the suspects to alleged internet fraud, identity theft, and financial scams.
They are expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
