Eid-el-Kabir: Kano Health Commissioner Emphasizes Meat Hygiene

As Muslims worldwide celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, Kano State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, has stressed the importance of maintaining proper hygiene for sacrificial meat. In a Sallah message issued by the ministry’s Public Relations Unit, Dr. Yusuf highlighted several key practices to ensure the meat remains safe and healthy for consumption.

Dr. Yusuf advised that sacrificial meat should be thoroughly cooked or fried, stored in clean containers, and kept in places where flies and other contaminants cannot reach. He emphasized that proper handling of the meat can prevent health issues caused by insects.

Additionally, Dr. Yusuf urged the public to promptly and properly dispose of animal waste in designated areas. He recommended that slaughter areas be thoroughly cleaned with water and detergent to eliminate blood stains and odors.

The Commissioner also cautioned against consuming excessive amounts of hot meat, which can cause stomach issues. He advised that any signs of illness should be reported to the nearest health facility immediately.

In his message, Dr. Yusuf praised the achievements of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf during his first year in office, despite facing various challenges. He commended the governor’s dedication to people-oriented projects and programs, calling him a true democrat committed to fulfilling his campaign promises.

“The leadership style of His Excellency is admirable and superb. He is transforming the state’s affairs, fulfilling his campaign promises, and moving forward with courage,” Dr. Yusuf said.

Dr. Yusuf extended warm Sallah greetings to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, his family, the State Executive Council, the leadership of the NNPP, and the people of Kano State. He also extended his felicitations to Engr. Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, the national leader of the NNPP and the grand leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, wishing that Allah accepts all sacrificial obligations as acts of worship.
