Emir of Zuru, Maj-Gen Muhammadu Sani Sami (Rtd), Dies at 81
The Emir of Zuru in Kebbi State, retired Major General Muhammadu Sani Sami, has died at the age of 81.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Garba Umar-Dutsinmari, confirmed the development in a statement released in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday.
According to him, the monarch passed away on Saturday night at a hospital in London after a prolonged illness.
Late Emir Sami, a retired military officer and respected traditional ruler, ascended the throne of Zuru Emirate in Kebbi State decades ago and was widely revered for his leadership and service to his people.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the Kebbi State Government and the Zuru Emirate Council.
