Era Of Crude Oil Theft Over, Culprits Await Harsh Punishment – Doguwa
By Abdullahi Yusuf
The National House of Assembly Special Committee on Crude Oil Thefts says the era of stealing national oil is over and warned that anybody found to be involved in the act would face the full wrath of the law.
The Chairman of the Special Committee, Alhaji Ado Alhassan Doguwa, sounded the warning in a statement he personally signed and distributed to newsmen in Kano on Friday.
“We cannot in anyway afford to allow our Tinubu/APC led government to continue to wallow in global borrowing as a result of consequential leakages in the production circle of the oil and gas sector.
“The unfortunate act is largely caused by youth restiveness and the unacceptable vandalisation of our critical infrastructure by vandals and criminals in the creeks, and this has to stop,” Doguwa further warned.
He said that the Committee was mandated by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, to unravel and unearth the remote and immediate causes of the “devastating economic earthquake within the oil and gas sector of the nation’s economy.”
“The committee vows to do all it takes to save the present Tinubu led administration from these unfortunate happenings in the oil producing areas.
“We will make sure that the committee brings to book the culprits and their political cohorts.
“The attendant consequences of these dastardly crimes against the economy will obviously not allow our economy to breath.
“President Tinubu’s commitment and determination to bring prosperity and economic wellbeing to our people is non-negotiable by whatever guise.
“The legislative agenda of the 10th National Assembly as rolled out by our leaders ofcourse, with the unprecedented commitment of the Rt. Hon Speaker Tajuddeen Abbas, will help the government to deliver on its overall commitments to the people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the Chairman added.
