Essential Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo @46

By Adnan Mukhtar

“I want to educate 1 Million Nigerians as educating a society is the best legacy that one will be remembered of”- Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo

My mentor and benefactor Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo is 46 years old today.

He has added another eventful year, another year of service to humanity and God. His is a life full of service, purpose, dedication, and commitment to the people.

This man is a born leader with sterling qualities. As he once told me there is nothing that gives him joy like putting a smile on the face of people who are in need.

At 46, Gwarzo is an achiever of excellence. He is the first Nigerian to establish four private universities. He singlehandedly established the first English University in Niger Republic called Maryam Abacha American University of Niger and in 2022 the Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria kick-started academic activities with four faculties.

MAAUN Kano as fondly called by students started with over 1000 students, the first ever in the history of Nigerian private universities. There is no private university that started with such a large number of students.

Looking at the need for such in Kaduna, for his strong passion for education, he went ahead to establish the Franco-British International University which is kick-starting academic activities this year.

Not long ago, he was granted a provisional operational license to kick start academic activities at his newly Canadian University of Nigeria in Abuja. This university is situated at the centre of the Federal Capital Territory, Jabi precisely.

Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo is a man who grew up steadily through hard work, discipline, prudence, and fear of God. I have never seen a man who is so passionate about the progress of his associates like him.

His generosity knows no bounds. Adamu Gwarzo like my other mentor Dr HK Adam taught me humanity. He offered his help to not only Muslims but to Christian individuals and when he was asked why? He told us that humanity matters irrespective of tribe, religion, or race.

As you continue to inspire our generation with the provision of quality education, may you find peace, joy, and fulfilment, with the hope that our younger generation will continue to enjoy and benefit from your intellect, wisdom, and leadership.

Happy 46th birthday and many happy returns of the day my Prof, Leader, and Benefactor.
