By Mustapha Salisu

A former Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in Bauchi State, Umar Lauya, has condemned the recent attack on the Rano Police Station in Kano State and the killing of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) during the incident.

Describing the attack as heinous and a threat to national security, Lauya emphasized the urgent need for relevant security and judicial authorities to ensure the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice. He stated that no society can thrive under the weight of such lawlessness and violence.

Lauya also called on Nigerian youths to remain law-abiding and to promote peace, unity, and respect for the rule of law. According to him, the progress of the nation depends on responsible and disciplined young people who choose constructive engagement over violence.

In addition, he urged the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to uphold their integrity by rejecting bribery and corruption. He noted that such acts erode public trust and weaken the moral authority of law enforcement officers.

Lauya concluded by praying for the soul of the slain DPO and for lasting peace and justice in Kano State and across Nigeria.
