Ex-NYSC DG Tsiga freed after 22 days in captivity
Retired Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga, former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has regained his freedom after spending 22 days in captivity.
Tsiga was abducted on February 6, 2025, from his residence in Tsiga village, Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina State, by armed assailants.
The kidnappers, reportedly led by the notorious bandit leader Babaro, had initially demanded a ransom of N250 million for his release.
A security analyst known as Bakatsine confirmed Tsiga’s release in a post on his official X handle on Friday night.
“Bandits have released Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga (Rtd), who was abducted days ago,” he wrote.
Prime Time News gathered that Tsiga is currently receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital.
Details surrounding his release remain unclear and no official statement has been issued regarding whether a ransom was paid.
