FCDO seeks Jigawa govt support to improve digital ecosystem

As part of it’s projects, the Foreign Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO), through Blue Sapphire Hub Meet with Jigawa state governor Alhaji Umar Namadi with aims to improve digital ecosystem in the state.

The move was announced by the founder of Blue sapphire hub, Maryam Lawan Gwadabe during a high-level stakeholder meeting on 28th July 2023 with the Governor to share the achievements of the technical and co-creation sessions held in the last eight months and chart a path for thriving digital ecosystem in the state.

She explained that, the purpose of the gathering was to share with the governor the achievements of the project, advocate for the state to take onwership of the documents developed and adopt.

According to her, the documents developed which are in form of action plans and strategy documents populated with actionable strategies, timelines, and performance metrics to measure progress towards achieving the set goalsfor sustainable and inclusive digital ecosystem.

“We are honored to meet with the visionary leadership of his excellency Malam Umar A. Namadi in driving sustainable and inclusive digital transformation in Jigawa State. Our shared commitment is to develop solutions that not only enhance economic growth but also address social challenges, bridge the digital divide and foster an inclusive digital ecosystem’, Gwadabe said.

She said, adopting the documents will help in creating a conducive regulatory environment to harmonise state digital economy activities to drive economic growth and societal progress.

It will help on adoption of digital Job playbook to equip the citizens (youths, women, PLWDs) and workforce with the necessary skills to thrive in a technology-driven world.

The hub will ensure widespread access to high-speed internet across all LGAs through reform on cost of right of way and enhancing broadband penetration.
Streamlining government operations through the adoption of e-governance solutions to enhance service delivery, transparency, and accountability.

While making his remarks, the Governor, emphasized the state’s commitment to embracing technology as a catalyst for positive change and development.

He then, reaffirmed his dedication and commitment to take onwership an adopt recommendations made in the documents.
