FERMA: Best Performing FG Agency – Gov Idris

Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has commended the Federal Emergency Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) as the most effective Federal Government agency, citing its outstanding performance under the support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Governor Idris made the statement while hosting the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi. The Minister was in the state to commission a rehabilitated bridge at Alwasa village in Argungu Local Government Area.

“In many parts of Nigeria, FERMA is actively delivering on its mandate. I am truly impressed with the agency’s work,” Governor Idris said. “No Federal Government agency matches FERMA’s impact. I applaud President Tinubu for providing the necessary support to ensure its optimal performance.”

The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting Federal Government initiatives and collaborating on projects that benefit Kebbi State residents.

“Some believe Federal projects are solely the responsibility of the Federal Government, but I do not agree with that notion,” he said. “My administration will always step in to support projects that have a positive impact on our people.”

He also lauded the Federal Government for revoking the contract for the reconstruction of the Koko-Mahuta-Dabai road due to the contractor’s inefficiency.

Kebbi State has been granted approval to take over the project and ensure it is executed to standard.

“The road is critical to the economic activities of residents in Zuru Emirate. We are in discussions with the Federal Ministry of Works to set a date for the construction’s flag-off,” the Governor stated.

Governor Idris further expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, for their efforts in advancing infrastructure development in Kebbi State.

Earlier, Minister Bello Muhammad Goronyo praised Governor Idris for his impactful leadership and alignment with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“You have demonstrated exceptional governance by delivering projects that are transformative for Kebbi citizens,” the Minister said. “Your alignment with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is commendable and reflective of a commitment to national development.”

While commissioning the rehabilitated bridge at Alwasa, the Minister highlighted its potential to boost economic activities and enhance security in the area.

“Trade and commerce will thrive, and insecurity will decline with improved road infrastructure. I urge residents to protect this project by ensuring heavy-duty vehicles comply with transport regulations,” he cautioned.

Kebbi’s Commissioner for Works, Engr. Abdullahi Umar Muslim, also commended FERMA and the Federal Ministry of Works for their contributions to the state’s development.

The Minister was accompanied by FERMA’s Managing Director, Engr. Okechukwu Agbasi, on his tour of Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states to commission projects executed by the agency.
