FG Delegation Arrives Saudi Arabia for Dantata’s Funeral in Madinah

A high-powered delegation from the Federal Government of Nigeria has arrived in the Islamic holy city of Madinah, Saudi Arabia, ahead of the funeral of late business mogul and elder statesman, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata.

Alhaji Dantata passed away in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Saturday at the age of 94.

The delegation, which departed Nigeria late Sunday night, touched down in Madinah in the early hours of Monday to receive the remains of the Kano-born philanthropist.

The team is led by the Minister of Defence and former Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar. Other members include the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris; and the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Honourable Yusuf Abdullahi Ata.

Joining them are respected Islamic scholars and religious leaders: Dr Bashir Aliyu Umar, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, and Khalifa Abdullahi Muhammad, the Imam of Dantata Mosque in Abuja.

The delegation is working in coordination with the Nigerian Consulate General in Jeddah, led by Ambassador Muazzam Ibrahim Nayaya, who has been overseeing preparations for the burial expected to hold later on Monday.

The visit underscores the Federal Government’s recognition of Dantata’s lifetime contributions to Nigeria’s economic development and philanthropy.
