FG Urged to Prioritize Funding for FRCN Kaduna Amid Frequent Power Disconnections
From Bello Mohammed, Kaduna
Listeners of FRCN Kaduna have called on the federal government to prioritize funding for the station to ensure sustainable information flow.
This comes as the station experiences frequent power disconnections by Kaduna Electric Distribution Company (KEDCO) due to unpaid electricity bills.
A cross-section of FRCN Kaduna listeners who spoke with our reporter in Kaduna expressed disappointment over the incessant power disconnections of the station. They noted that the disconnection is getting too frequent, and something needs to be done urgently to address the situation.
Musa Mohammed Kawo, one of the listeners, observed that the radio station has paid its dues in view of its contribution to unity and religious harmony, not only in the northern part of the country but also in the country as a whole.
According to him, despite the challenges being faced by the station, it still has a role to play in enlightening and educating the citizenry on government policies and programs, and should not be allowed to collapse.
Another listener, Malam Abdullahi Zaria, commended the Minister of Information and National Orientation for his various interventions on the issue but noted that a lot still needs to be done to address the problem.
Similarly, Bello Soba, another listener, expressed surprise at finding the station off-air due to disconnection by KEDCO and called on the authorities concerned to take decisive actions against the recurrence of the situation.
Our reporter in Kaduna reports that this is the fifth time the station has been disconnected over problems of electricity bill payment in the last one year.
