Flood claims one, 14 others injured in Yobe
Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has announced that one person has tragically lost his life, while 14 others have been left injured in the wake of severe flooding that struck Damaturu, the State Capital.
The Executive Secretary of SEMA, Mohammed Goje, shared this via his verified Facebook page on Friday.
He disclosed that the SEMA team had swiftly conducted an assessment of the calamity, uncovering the grim extent of the damage.
According to Mr. Goje’s post, their findings indicate that the flooding has ravaged over 200 households across various communities, including Ganyen Kura, Malari Behind WfP Warehouse, 3-bedroom Gujba Road Housing Estate, Pompomari, Nayi-Nawa, Abbari West, and Bulabulin Tsallake.
Despite the turn of events, SEMA has extended its condolences to the affected individuals and pledged to provide them with immediate assistance to the best of their abilities.
“While resources are being mobilized, we urge communities to heed early warnings, prioritize drainage clearing, and implement all necessary measures to mitigate the devastating effects of flooding,” appealed Mr. Goje.
