Flood: Defense Minister, Matawalle, donates N2Om to victims

The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle has on Tuesday donated N20 million cash to victims of last Friday’s flood disaster that ravaged 2600 houses in Gummi town of Zamfara State.
Matawalle also commiserated with victims of the disaster whose houses, animals, foodstuffs, and farmlands were destroyed due to heavy downpour being experienced in the area.
The Minister’s message and donation were delivered through a 21-man delegation led by the state All Progressives Congress APC Chairman, Hon. Tukur Umar Danfulani.
He urged the flood victims to consider their present plight as an act of God and expect better recompense from the Almighty who follows such misfortunes with good tidings for those who are patient.
Leader of the delegation, Hon. Tukur Umar Danfulani then prayed God against a repeat of such disasters throughout the country.
He presented the N2O million cash to the Emir of Gummi at the Emir’s palace for onward delivery to the flood affected persons as emergency response pending the outcome of the emirate coucil verification committee report.
The Minister also expressed his commitment to always contribute in alleviating the sufferings of the people.
Danfulani also appealed to wealthy individuals in the state to immediately assist the victims with relief materials and support for the Gummi flood victims as well as victims of disasters spread across the state.
Receiving the donation, the Emir of Gummi Justice Lawal Hassan Gummi (rtd) expressed appreciation to the Minister for the quick response to his people.
“This donation is really timely as it will give the people a good sense of belonging, cushion the effect of the disaster, and help them resettle.”
The Emir also assured that the donation will be taken to all the affected persons immediately so as to achieve the target purpose.
