Flood: NSA Ribadu, Mustapha Salihu Support 700 Families with N300m Relief Materials in Adamawa
From Umar Dankano, Yola
The National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, and the North-East Zonal National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mustapha Salihu, have donated relief materials worth N300 million to 700 families affected by the recent flood disaster in Adamawa State.
The flood, caused by a heavy downpour on Sunday, 27 August 2025, devastated several communities in Yola South Local Government Area. It claimed 25 lives, led to the loss of livestock, destroyed properties worth millions of naira, and displaced more than 2,000 residents.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, Mustapha Atiku Ribadu said the NSA and the APC zonal leader were deeply concerned about the destruction caused by the flood and were determined to support victims.
“The NSA is disturbed by the plight of the victims and has assured that everyone affected will benefit from this relief effort. What we are witnessing today is just the beginning. Every victim and every family impacted by this disaster will be reached,” Ribadu said.
He explained that 700 families from seven worst-hit communities have been screened to benefit from the first phase of the intervention.
“Each beneficiary will receive a 25kg bag of rice, a carton of spaghetti, a carton of noodles, vegetable oil, and a cash token of N10,000,” he said.
“Although this initiative is being driven by APC stalwarts, it is purely humanitarian. All victims, irrespective of political affiliation, will benefit.”
Ribadu added that additional palliatives including clothing materials, drugs, mosquito nets, and other assorted food and non-food items procured by the NSA are on the way to Yola.
He said a committee has been set up by the APC to ensure the distribution is transparent and free of political or religious bias.
Some beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the assistance. Alhaji Saidu Modibbo, a resident of Almashur By-pass, said: “We are indebted to them for remembering us in this trying period.”
Mrs. Grace Monday from Sabon Pegi Quarters also confirmed receiving her share of the relief materials.
