Food Security: JSG To Cultivates 150,000 Hectares Of Wheat Next Year

Jigawa state governor, Alhaji Umar Namadi has announced plans to cultivate 150,000 hecters of wheat next season farming.
Governor Umar Namadi who spoke in Dutse when he received in audience, Africa Development Bank delegation, also disclosed plan to expand the programme to other crops for the betterment of citizens in 2025.
Recalled that Jigawa state was allocated 40,000 hecters of land for wheat farming under the initiative to enhance food security in Nigeria where over 10,000 farmers are supported with agricultural inputs for effective farming.
A statement by Hajiya Zainab Rabo Ringim, Senior Special Assistant Media Affairs to the governor that was made available to Teporters quoted her principal to have expressed his determination to improved food security in the state and the county in general.
Hajiya Ringim in the statement said “Gov. Namadi further stated that the only way to move people out of poverty is through the development of agriculture”
The statement said the Jigawa state governor thumbed up for President Tinubu for initiating various agricultural intervention programmes since the inception of his adminitration.
The Senior Special Assistant Media Affairs disclosed that her boss commended “the initiative of feed the African initiative established by the African Development bank, assuring that government will monitor all the inputs interventions to ensure adequate use for the attainment of greater jigawa.”
According to the state, earlier, the leader of the delegation, Dr Martings Fregnen said the visit is aimed at intimating the governor on the activities of the bank to agree on the areas of continued collaboration.
Dr Martings Fregnen, the National agricultural development scheme will be supported in the Areas of Irrigated land , Demostration to the farmers , Financing and providing opportunity for the Young people for the development of the region.
Other key stakeholders appreciate the supports and commitments of Jigawa state government and assured willingness to maintain the cordial relationship between the two parties.
