FOSOGED commemorates international day for PWDs in Kano

The Foundation for Social Orientation and Gender Development (FOSOGED) organized an event to commemorate the 2024 International Day for People Living with Disabilities at its headquarters in Sharada, Kano.
The program celebrated individuals living with disabilities in Kano State and sought to empower them with life-supporting materials and equipment.
Speaking at the event, Haj. Mariya Inuwa Durumin Iya, the Founder and Chair-Lady of FOSOGED, emphasized the organization’s commitment to inclusivity and the well-being of persons with disabilities.
“This program is aimed at celebrating the resilience and contributions of people living with disabilities in our communities. It is also a step toward empowering them with modern equipment to enhance their quality of life and independence,” she said.
Highlighting the organization’s dedication, FOSOGED distributed modern Keke wheelchairs and other essential equipment to several beneficiaries.
This gesture emphasized the foundation’s commitment to supporting vulnerable populations and promoting equality and dignity for all.
The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Prof. Abdurrasheed Garba, the Vice Chancellor of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Haj. Nafisa Bashir Wali, and Dr. Bala Bala Muhammad Adai-daita Sahu, a sitting board member of FOSOGED.
In their remarks, they commended the foundation’s continued efforts in creating an inclusive society and addressing the challenges faced by people with disabilities.
FOSOGED has built a reputation in Kano State and beyond for its support for vulnerable people and communities, particularly persons with disabilities.
The event concluded with a renewed call for collaboration among stakeholders to ensure sustainable development and improved living conditions for persons with disabilities in Kano State and across the nation.
