FRSC deploys 1,500 personnel, 35 vehicles to ensure smooth conduct of Imo, Kogi, Bayelsa Guber Polls

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed a contingent of 1,500 personnel and 35 vehicles, including tow trucks and ambulances, to each of the three states – Bayelsa, Kogi, and Imo – where gubernatorial elections are scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 11, 2023.

Bisi Kazeem, Deputy Corps Marshal, Corps Public Education Officer disclosed this development in a statement issued to newsmen.

The deployment is part of the FRSC’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and peaceful conduct of the elections. The Corps will collaborate with the Nigerian Police Force, Independent National Electoral Commission, and other security agencies to enforce restrictions on vehicular movement during the election period.

In addition to enforcing traffic restrictions, the FRSC operatives will also be responsible for clearing obstructions from the roads, conducting rescue operations in case of emergencies, and maintaining orderliness at polling booths.

Corps Marshal Dauda Ali Biu has urged the deployed personnel to exhibit the highest sense of professionalism and avoid any temptation that could lead to the abuse of the rights of electorates.

He also called on the electorates to comply with all regulations, including restrictions as announced, to ensure a peaceful and transparent election process.
