FUDMA to graduate 4,365 students, 112 with first class degrees

Prof. Armaya’u Hamisu-Bichi, the Vice-Chancellor (VC), Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA), in Katsina State, says they are set to graduate 4,365 undergraduate students.

Hamisu-Bichi disclosed this while briefing newsmen in Dutsinma on Thursday as part of the preparations for the Institution’s 7th and 8th combined convocation scheduled for Saturday.

He said that about 112 of the students graduated with first class degrees, 1,131 with second class upper, 2,476 with second class lower, and 646 have third class.

The vice-chancellor further revealed that for the first time in the history of the university, they were graduating 401 Postgraduate students.

According to Hamisu-Bichi, out of the postgraduate students, 11 are PhD graduates, 68 have academic Masters, 75 professional Masters, and 149 Postgraduate Diplomas.

As part of the event, the vice-chancellor said that the Deputy Senate President, Alhaji Barau Jibril would on Friday deliver a lecture with a topic, ‘Harnessing the Power of Education, Technology and Innovation in Tackling Insecurity’.

He also said that during the convocation, the former Governor of Katsina State, Alhaji Ibrahim Shema, Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruk-Umar, and that of Bichi in Kano State, Alhaji Nasir Ado-Bayero, would be conferred with honorary Doctorate Degrees.

Hamisu-Bichi further assured that all the necessary security arrangements have been put in place to ensure the safety of people during and after the convocation ceremony.

The V-C also assured that they were doing everything possible in collaboration with the security agencies to ensure the release of the remaining four abducted students of the institution.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that recently, five female students of the university were kidnapped by suspected bandits and one of them was later released.

Hamisu-Bichi also disclosed that during his three years in office, he had achieved a lot, saying that in spite of the successes, there were still challenges. (NAN)
