Gateway 2024:Over 250 Kano State Contingents Arrive Abeokuta

Over 250 Kano State contingents have safely arrived Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital,
ahead of the 2024 National Sports Festival,
after a 30-hour journey.

Before their departure, Kano State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Mustapha Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, while briefing the athletes urged them to set new records as well as be good ambassador of the state during and after the competition.

“Kano State Government has done its own part,it now remains for the athletes to do their own part by setting new records in Abeokuta,” Kwankwaso said.

In his remarks, the Acting Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar Fagge, urged the athletes to maintain their high morale during the fiesta.

Kano State is to participate in different games such as Swimming, Judo, Traditional Sports, Dame, Gymnastic, Chess, Kick Boxing, Taekwondo, Wrestling,Golf, Handball, Football, Kung Fu, Volleyball, Beach Volleyball and Weightlifting

The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, is expecting to declare the festival open today, Sunday, May 18, 2025.
