Gawuna Mourns Business Icon, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, Describes Him as Pillar of Industry and Philanthropy
The former Deputy Governor of Kano State and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of elder statesman and foremost business mogul, Alhaji Aminu Alhasan Dantata, who passed away at the age of 94 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Saturday, June 28, 2025.
In a condolence message released on Saturday, Dr. Gawuna described the passing of Alhaji Dantata as a profound loss not only to Kano State and Nigeria but to the world at large.
“Alhaji Aminu Dantata was not just a towering figure in commerce and industry; he was a symbol of humility, generosity, and selfless service. His impact on community development and philanthropy left an indelible legacy across Nigeria and beyond,” Gawuna said.
He noted that Dantata’s life of service and enterprise touched thousands of lives, recalling his status as a pioneer industrialist and an uncle to Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote.
According to Gawuna, the late business icon represented a golden era of visionary leadership in commerce, spiritual devotion, and humanitarian service.
“His passing marks the end of an era, but his legacy will continue to inspire future generations,” he added.
Dr. Gawuna prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive Alhaji Dantata’s shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
He extended heartfelt condolences to the Dantata family, the government and people of Kano State, and the entire nation, urging all to find comfort in the remarkable legacy left behind by the late patriarch.
