Gombe AGILE Project Launches Conditional Cash Transfer Enrollment
From Abubakar Rabilu, Gombe
The Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project in Gombe State has commenced the enrollment and verification process for beneficiaries of its Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) program. The exercise, covering all 11 Local Government Areas, is part of efforts to empower adolescent girls and support education in the state.
Speaking at a training session for enumerators, the Project Coordinator, Dr. Amina Haruna Abdul, explained that the exercise aims to accurately identify eligible beneficiaries and finalize plans for fund disbursement as students return to school after the holidays.
To enhance the efficiency of the process, a situation room has been established at the AGILE office. Dr. Amina noted that this facility will provide real-time monitoring and offer guidance and support to enumerators to ensure accuracy throughout the exercise.
She further disclosed that the project conducted extensive grassroots sensitization campaigns before the enrollment phase. These campaigns engaged key stakeholders such as District Heads, Local Government Executives, Education Secretaries, NGOs, and School-Based Management Committees to raise awareness about the program.
In addition, sensitization meetings were held in the state’s three senatorial districts, highlighting opportunities for girls to complete their secondary education through second-chance education programs and scholarships offered by the AGILE project.
Stakeholders across the senatorial districts expressed their support for the initiative, pledging to contribute to its success and ensure that it benefits their communities.
