Gombe Govt Dissolves State Sports Associations for Restructuring – Commissioner

The Gombe State Government has approved the immediate dissolution of all existing State Sports Associations as part of its plans to restructure the sports sector in line with national guidelines.
The decision, according to the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Mal. Adamu Pantami, was conveyed through the Office of the Secretary to the State Government following a directive by Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya.
Pantami explained that the exercise would be carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) 2017 Constitution, as well as the recommendations of the National Sports Commission and the AFN.
“This move is part of ongoing efforts to restructure the administration, coordination, and overall performance of sports in Gombe State. A new framework for the reconstitution of the sports associations will be announced in due course,” the Commissioner stated.
He assured that the government remained committed to creating an enabling environment for grassroots sports development, stressing that relevant stakeholders would be engaged to ensure sustainable growth of sports and talent discovery across the state.
