Gombe, NSCDC Stakeholders Move to Safeguard National Assets

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Gombe State Command, has opened a fresh chapter in the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) with the convening of its first-ever state-level engagement meeting with key stakeholders.

The session, chaired by the State Commandant, Jibrin Idris, was in line with directives from the Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed Audi, and resolutions from a coordination meeting at the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) held on August 21, 2025.

Addressing participants, Commandant Idris underscored the Corps’ statutory mandate to safeguard vital facilities across the country, noting that CNAI protection demands collective responsibility.

A statement signed by the Command public relations officer SC Buhari Sa’ad the Corps had recently met with heads of security agencies in the state who pledged to support NSCDC’s efforts.

According to statement the meeting focused on strengthening collaboration, improving intelligence sharing, instituting rapid response mechanisms, and ensuring stakeholders notify the NSCDC within 24 hours of arrests connected to CNAI-related offenses.

Among stakeholders present were the Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), the Nigerian National Petroleum Company/Nigerian Petroleum Supply Company (NNPC/NPSC), Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED), the National Orientation Agency (NOA), the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), MTN Nigeria, and the Vice Chancellor of North Eastern University, among others.

Commandant Idris also announced plans for intensified public awareness campaigns through the media and the development of strategic protection frameworks in partnership with CNAI operators, stressing that “the protection of national assets is a shared duty that requires synergy and vigilance.”
