Gov. Buni Declares ‘No Protest’ in Yobe, Urges Residents to Embrace Agricultural Empowerment Scheme

From Sani Gazas Chinade, Damaturu

Governor Mai Mala Buni has declared that the residents of Yobe State will not participate in any protests, urging them to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in improving the economy, security, and other developmental challenges.

Governor Buni also encouraged residents to take advantage of the state government’s agricultural empowerment scheme to ensure food security and economic development. He made this declaration during the launch of the mega agricultural empowerment program by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Damaturu, the state capital, on Saturday.

Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, President Tinubu commended Governor Buni for the agricultural interventions, emphasizing that the program is central to the administration’s efforts to enhance food security, create jobs, and diversify Nigeria’s economy through agriculture.

Tinubu highlighted Yobe State’s abundant arable lands, rivers, oases, and energetic youthful population. The government has provided machinery and equipment, presenting an opportunity for the youth to gain employment. The President approved the provision of mini-rigs for tube wells, solar water pumps, agro-chemicals, power tillers, fertilizers, and other farm implements to support the state’s irrigation scheme and achieve food sufficiency and economic growth.

Governor Buni reiterated the importance of residents embracing agriculture to cultivate and produce food, ensuring food security and economic development. He reminded them of the past security challenges in Yobe, Borno, and Adamawa states, when access to farmlands was restricted.

“We know better what the absence of peace means. We have many sad stories from our horrible experiences. We cannot afford any threats to our current peace. Therefore, we must guard it jealously and avoid any actions that could disturb it,” Buni stated.

He warned against protests, stating, “Yobe State is categorically saying no to protests and will not participate in any form of protest. We should remain faithful, prayerful, and optimistic as the federal government, under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is taking drastic measures to address all challenges.”

Governor Buni urged residents to embrace agriculture for food security and economic development, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace in the state.
