Gov. Buni Hailed for New Wage Approval by Health, Environmental Associations

From Alhaji Yusuf, Damaturu

The Yobe State chapters of the Environmental Health Officers Association of Nigeria (EHOAN), the Veterinary Association of Nigeria (VAN), and the Animal Health and Hospitality Association of Nigeria have officially commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for including their members in the recently implemented Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) and Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) in the state.

The associations, led by the state Chairman of the Environmental Health Officers Association, Alhaji Ahmed Abubakar, expressed their gratitude during a courtesy visit to the State Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Tonga Betara Bularafa in Damaturu on Tuesday.

Abubakar stated that the visit was to express their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to Governor Mai Mala Buni for graciously approving the implementation of the revised wage structure for their associations.

He revealed that this was something they had been yearning for and agitating over for a long time, and it had not reached fruition until this moment.

“I want to reaffirm our commitment as workers in these very important sectors to dedicate ourselves to the service of our state and to the effective delivery of services to our people,” said the state Chairman.

In his remarks, the state Chairman of the Veterinary Association, Yobe State branch, Dr. Bulama Maina, assured the Yobe State government on behalf of the veterinary association that this kindness would not be taken for granted.

“Just as you see us here together, we will continue to work collectively and cohesively in the field for the purpose of growth and development,” said Dr. Maina.

Responding, the Yobe State Head of Service, Alhaji Tonga Betara Bularafa said, approving the proposal would boost the workers’ morale as it would directly benefit their families, which would positively affect everyone in the state.

“I was able to convince His Excellency that your performance would improve significantly if this approval was granted. As I said, it will reduce the financial burden on the health sector.

“Your purpose here will be conveyed to His Excellency with the hope and prayer that you will meet, or even exceed, expectations. This is what I am praying for, and I know you can do it because we are in this together,” said the Head of Service.
