From Sani Gazas Chinade, Damaturu
Yobe State Governor, Dr. Mai Mala Buni, has expressed condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the family of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, the Katsina State Government, the Daura Emirate, and all Nigerians over the passing of the former President.
In a statement signed by Mamman Mohammed, Director General, Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, Buni described the late President Buhari as a true nationalist who dedicated his life to the unity and service of Nigeria.
“His death is a sad, huge, and monumental loss to the country,” Buni said.
He added, “The government and people of Yobe State extend their condolences to the President and Commander-in-Chief, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the government and people of Katsina State, the Daura Emirate, and indeed all Nigerians over the loss of this committed nationalist who believed in the unity and progress of Nigeria.”
Governor Buni highlighted Buhari’s unwavering service to the nation throughout his life. “As a military officer, he fought for Nigeria’s unity; as a Military Head of State, he committed himself to national service; and as a civilian President, he served with honour and dedication to the development and strengthening of democracy,” he said.
The Governor prayed for the peaceful repose of the late President’s soul.
“May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannah Firdaus. May He comfort his family during this difficult time,” Buni prayed.
