Gov. Fintiri Flags Off Construction of N18.97 Billion Ultra-Modern International Conference Centre in Yola

From Umar Dankano, Yola

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has  officially flagged off the construction of a new Ultra-modern International Conference and event centre worth N18.97 Billion in Adamawa state

Governor Fintiri while performing the symbolic blocks laying at the ground breaking ceremony held in Yola Thursday pledged continuous delivery of projects with direct bearing on the populace in the state.

Fintiri said that the project was in fulfilment of what has become the engraved trademark of his government in continuous delivery of the dividends of democracy and good governance to the people through the initiation and execution of projects that place our state strategically on the map of progress and brings shared prosperity to the people

He stressed that the Centre, when fully constructed, will boast state-of-the-art facilities, galleries, mini halls, administrative offices, restaurant, tea-room, out-door sitting arrangements and uninterrupted power supply which will jack up the state economic and social trajectories overwhelmingly.

“Taking advantage of the viability of the Yola International Airport, the Centre will attract patronage across the country and internationally. This will further open up the state for investment and tourism whose multiplier effect would be manifest in providing jobs for our youths and boosting the state’s internally generated revenue.

“This Centre will transform the state into a commercial hub and prompt development into the surrounding towns and villages (roads, lock-up stalls and the like). In its own right, the Centre will provide jobs, because there will be a need for on-ground staff who will help to keep it in top shape.

“We cannot continue to talk about attracting investors without putting in place the right infrastructure. If we are telling people to leave wherever they are and come to Adamawa, we should be able to give them what they are benefiting from there and even more. We can keep saying “Adamawa is ready for business”, but without the right infrastructure in place, they will tell us they like our policies, but they want to see better facilities”. Fintiri maintained.

In his remarks, the Commissioner of Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Prambe said that the feat is a testament to Governor Fintiri’s led administration’s collective resolve to uphold democratic principles and values.

Prambe stated that the project when completed will showcase the rich cultural heritage of the state and will provide a platform for knowledge sharing, innovation and economic growth.

“The contract was awarded to Messrs Lubell Nigeria Limited with a completion period of 12 months and the project will be managed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development in collaboration with the appointed consultant, Messrs Globarch Associates”.Prambe explained.

In his response, the Project Consultant, Arch. Saleh Yunusa expressed gratitude for the opportunity given to his company to oversee the project assuring that the construction would be delivered as scheduled by the contract specifications.
