Gov. Mutfwang Boosts Agriculture, Empowers Communities in Plateau

In a significant move to revitalize Plateau State’s agricultural sector and alleviate poverty, Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has commissioned 20 tractors for farming communities across the state.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Governor Mutfwang assured that the tractors would be effectively utilized to benefit both the state and its people.
He revealed plans to secure over 200 additional tractors to further boost agricultural activities, ensuring food security and sovereignty across the state.
In addition to the tractor commissioning, Governor Mutfwang presented a $250,000 Community Revolving Fund (CRF) cheque to ten communities. Each community received $25,000, with the funds expected to be repaid after a specified period to empower other communities in the state.
According to the Governor, “The initiative is part of his administration’s vision for food security and economic empowerment”
The beneficiary communities include Guratop, Kerang, Zamko, Ampang West, Dinting, Jimin, Kaler, Plateau Club/Bingham, Pishe, Yashi, and Wereh.
Governor Mutfwang urged the communities to make optimal use of the funds, emphasizing the initiative’s goal of creating a revolving financial opportunity for broader community development.
The World Bank Country Director for Nigeria, Dr. Ndiame Diop, congratulated the beneficiary communities and highlighted the importance of addressing climate change’s adverse effects on agriculture.
He commended Governor Mutfwang and his team for their dedication to the project’s success and urged the communities to use the funds responsibly.
Governor Mutfwang also emphasized the need for citizens to unite in supporting government initiatives and cautioned against divisive tendencies that hinder progress. He encouraged the cultivation of available land, especially in schools, during the coming farming season.
