Gov. Mutfwang Joins APC, Calls for Unity, Renewed Hope in Plateau

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has formally defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC, declaring that the move marks the beginning of a new era of unity, reconciliation, and collective progress for Plateau State.
Speaking at a well-attended ceremony at the Little Rayfield Government House in Jos, Governor Mutfwang said his decision followed prayers, wide consultations, and deep reflection.
He announced his acceptance of APC membership to loud applause from party leaders, government officials, and supporters.
The governor paid tribute to his predecessors, members of the Federal Executive Council, National Assembly members, the Plateau State House of Assembly, and political leaders across party lines, acknowledging their support through difficult moments, including prolonged elections and court battles.
Governor Mutfwang described the development as a divine moment, saying God had brought former political rivals together to heal long-standing divisions in the state.
He recalled years of political polarization in Plateau and expressed optimism that the state was finally seeing “light at the end of the tunnel.”
He emphasized that his administration remains committed to inclusive leadership, stressing that those who remain in other political parties are not enemies, but brothers and partners in the development of Plateau.
The governor reaffirmed his loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and pledged support for the Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that his move to the APC would strengthen Plateau’s voice at the national level and ensure the state is fully represented in key policy discussions.
Governor Mutfwang assured party members that his leadership style would create space for elders, women, youths, and vulnerable groups, while promoting unity across religion, ethnicity, and political affiliation.
He also expressed confidence that Plateau would record one of its most peaceful elections in 2027.
Earlier, Plateau State APC Chairman, Honourable Rufus Bature, described the governor’s defection as historic, quoting the book of Ecclesiastes that “to everything there is a time,” and declaring that the time for Plateau’s political realignment is now.
Chairman Bature officially presented Governor Mutfwang with his APC membership registration card, formally welcoming himu as a full member of the party and according him all rights and privileges under the party’s constitution.
The event ended with renewed calls for unity, grassroots mobilization, and collective commitment to building a peaceful, progressive, and united Plateau State.
