Gov. Namadi Distributes Inputs, Agricultural Assets to 1,950 Beneficiaries

The Jigawa state governor Malam Umar Namadi has flagged off the 2023 second batch of inputs and assets distribution for Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES).

Speaking at the event, governor Namadi said the distribution will be under the supervision of NG CARES Results area II-Fadama beneficiary targeting, selection and implementation monitoring committee, to avoid any disappointment.

The governor who approved the release of N1.5 billion for the next target distribution said, the committee is not just a temporary but a standing committee to serve till the end of the project.

He then assured more empowerment programs with aim to reduce unemployment and extreme poverty among the people in the state.

While delivering his speech, the Chairman of the committee Dr. Saifullahi Umar explained that, the committee was constituted by the governor to develop equitable, transparent and accessible process of beneficiaries targeting selection and implementation monitoring.

According to him, a total of 120 communities were visited across 27 local government within 25 days and about 1,950 beneficiaries were selected from poor and vulnerable hard-to-reach areas with little or non government presence.

“We considered factors such as poverty and vulnerability, social status and community needs to ascertain the most deserving recipients”, Dr Saifullahi said.

He maintained that, breakdown of the beneficiaries per package allocation were 320 rice, 160 maize, 170 Millet, 120 Sorghum, 99 Sheep, 320 goat, 193 water pumps, 138 processing machine, and 86 broiler day old chick.

The chairman who promised more support to vulnerable, urged the beneficiaries to use the package judiciously for achieving their desired goals.

Speaking to our reporter, some of the beneficiaries Malam Mai unguwa Sule, Harira Hadi and Maimuna Sa’idu appreciated the efforts of the Governor and promised to utilize the package judiciously.
