Gov. Namadi Signs N901.84bn 2026 Budget, Says it Reflects People’s Aspirations

Governor Malam Umar Namadi has signed into law the Jigawa State Appropriation Law 2026, formally approving the financial framework for the State Government and the 27 Local Government Councils for the 2026 fiscal year.

The signing ceremony took place, Wednesday, at the Council Chambers, Government House, Dutse according to a statement issued to newsmen today the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Hamisu Mohammed Gumel.

Speaking at the event, the Governor disclosed that the budget of the Jigawa State Government stands at N901.84 billion, while the consolidated budget of the 27 Local Government Councils is N288.85 billion.

He stated that the budget was developed through an extensive consultation process, describing it as a direct reflection of the people’s expectations.

“This budget is the outcome of our citizen engagement programme,” the Governor said. “It reflects the yearnings and aspirations of the people of Jigawa State. Therefore, the budget is a citizens’ budget, and the budget belongs to the people of Jigawa State — exactly what they asked us to do and exactly what is in this budget.”

Governor Namadi commended the Jigawa State House of Assembly for its role in ensuring a smooth and inclusive budget process.

“I want to sincerely thank the members of the Jigawa State House of Assembly for their dedication and their commitment in doing what is right in the budget process,” he said,

He noted that their participation during citizen engagement sessions, bilateral discussions, and committee deliberations.

The Governor also appreciated the State Executive Council for approving and supporting the citizen engagement programme.

“I want to thank the members of the Executive Council for all their support, for all their commitment, and for all their dedication,” he said, adding that the long hours spent deliberating on government priorities reflected their sense of responsibility.

Acknowledging the contribution of the civil service, Governor Namadi described Jigawa’s public servants as committed and dependable, noting that they played a key role in compiling the budget. He further commended Senior Special Advisers, Technical Advisers, Special Advisers, and Special Assistants for their grassroots engagement and sectoral inputs, particularly in education, health, and agriculture.

Describing the 2026 budget as ambitious yet realistic, the Governor assured stakeholders of full implementation.

“This budget is quite ambitious, but it is still realistic, because it reflects the yearnings and aspirations of the people of Jigawa State. I want to assure you, by the grace of Allah, this budget will be fully executed.”

Governor Namadi concluded by thanking the people of Jigawa State for their support and participation, while offering prayers for divine support in implementation.

“I pray that Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, who is the Provider, will provide us with the resources to execute this budget.”
