Gov. Uba Sani to Recruit Additional 9,000 Health Workers Across Kaduna State
From Umar Faruk Tukur, Kaduna
The Kaduna State Government, under the leadership of Governor Uba Sani, has unveiled a comprehensive plan to recruit 9,000 health workers over the next five years, a move designed to reinforce service delivery and expand access to quality healthcare across the state.
The State Commissioner for Information, Ahmed Maiyaki, disclosed this during a media engagement on Sunday in Kaduna, noting that the administration remains firmly committed to strengthening the health sector.
According to him, achieving universal health coverage stands as a central pillar of Governor Uba Sani’s development agenda.
He explained that the state has consistently maintained a health budget that surpasses the national benchmark of 15 percent.
Maiyaki further revealed that the government has already approved the immediate recruitment of 1,800 personnel, including doctors, nurses, and healthcare attendants to enhance manpower in hospitals and primary healthcare centres, particularly in underserved rural communities.
He added that the state has also reviewed and increased the salaries of health workers to encourage retention, reduce workforce migration, and sustain a stable and motivated healthcare system.
