Gov. Yusuf empowers 5,200 women with N50,000 in Kano
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has launched the second phase of his administration’s initiative, distributing N50,000 each to 5,200 women from the state’s 44 local government areas (LGAs).
This phase involves a total disbursement of N260 million.
During the distribution, Governor Yusuf emphasized the administration’s commitment to women’s empowerment.
“This administration, as you are aware, has made it a cardinal objective to empower women, enabling them to become self-reliant and independent to earn a healthy living.”
“In line with the campaign promises, the governor detailed the distribution, noting that the sum of N50,000 would be given to 100 women from each of the 36 rural LGAs and 200 women from each of the 8 metropolitan LGAs, amounting to a total of 5,200 beneficiaries.
“This will boost business activities and create a sense of pride among the beneficiaries,” he said.
According to the Governor, the initiative’s role is to address poverty.
“Our aim is to break the cycle of poverty, thereby paving the way to success for these women.”
Reflecting on the campaign period, the governor expressed his gratitude to the women, acknowledging their significant support.
“In the darkest period of our campaign, the women helped a lot. This we shall never forget, and we use this opportunity to thank all the women from all the 44 LGAs.”
He urged the women to use the money judiciously to start and sustain their small small businesses.
