Gov Yusuf Launches N800m Youth Empowerment Programme,Commends Beneficiaries’ Patience

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State on Tuesday unveiled the first tranche of a Youth Empowerment Programme worth more than N800 million to enable the beneficiaries become self reliant.
A total of 5,384 youths drawn from the Kwankwasiyya/Abba Gida-Gida political movement in all the 44 local government areas of the state benefited from the programme with each collecting the sum of N150,000 to start their own businesses.
Yusuf disbursed the funds at a ceremony held at the Coronation Hall of the Government House,Kano.
He said the objective of the initiative was to enable the beneficiaries to start their own small businesses towards self reliance.
He also noted that the initiative was designed to help the youths to become active members of the business community and contribute to the progress of the society.
The Governor thanked the beneficiaries for their patience and continuous support to his administration,and promised to roll out more programmes that would enhance their wellbeing.
He urged the beneficiaries to make the best use of the funds to grow their business ventures and secure a better future.
He, however,appealed to those who are on the waiting list to remain patient, assuring them that the second tranche of the programme would be released soon.
He said his administration would continue to prioritize policies and programmes that empower young people and create sustainable livelihoods across the state.
The Governor then thanked the people of the state for their support and encouragement and pledged to work for the development of the state.
He supervised the disbursement of the money to the beneficiaries, ensuring that they received their alerts instantly.
